Meet the Author Max Lewis

Author Joseph “Max” Lewis is no stranger to my Writers’ Tips blog. He was featured in here on October 1, 2012, when his “thriller” book, THE DIARIES OF PONTIUS PILATE had just been published. Now on the heels of his success with that open throttled, no time for doubts novel, Max displays his versatility with a new release, JUST VERDICTS.

These “first person” short stories of legal suspense draw upon Lewis’ military background. On his second ever plane ride he jumped out at 10,000 feet – and twenty five years of legal experience trying everything from a complex drug gang conspiracy case to defending a client charged with assault for setting paper towels on fire, one by one, and throwing them at his wife.   One television wag referred to the case as “Assault by Bounty, the quicker lighter upper.”

A self-confessed “foodie” and dog lover, Max admits he can be found searching for the newest Mexican, Indian, Tai, Ethiopian, or Korean restaurant in the Pittsburgh area, always with his wife riding “shotgun” and a collie in the back seat riding “President.”  Unless it’s too hot.  He’s attended the same Pittsburgh area church since he was five years old and was delighted when his wife recently became a member.  Lewis is a columnist in the New Bethlehem Leader-Vindicator and currently lives, writes, and practices law in and around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Meet the Author: Sicily Yoder

Yoder. AmishBlizzards (1)

Sicily Yoder is an Amazon Top 100 Fiction Novelist and Cookbook Author. Although she is not, and has not been Amish or Mennonite, she has attended a Mennonite church at times and has friends at two Mennonite churches.

Sicily’s Roots:

She is a twin, her twin living in sunny Beaumont, Texas. Sicily is a foster mother to her five nieces and nephews and an entrepreneur. She left a career as a Trauma Registered Nurse to study textiles, home furnishings, and merchandising with an emphasis in Business Marketing. She is a former award-winning sales representative for Land O’ Lakes and Alouette Dairy Corporations.   She took French in high school and is planning a trip with her foster daughters for Paris next spring.

As a hobby, she travels and does freelance travel and food writing and wants to one day have her own travel show. She is a devout Christian and believes Jesus is the only person who saves a soul, not following a set of rules. She enjoys cooking, traveling, latch-hooking, and reading her Bible.

Are Sicily’s Books Selling?

Sicily has a huge platform, mostly off line, due to extensive touring since 2004. “I sold books out of the trunk of my car during my merchandising route in six states,” she says. “But a car wreck forced me out of that line of work and into writing full-time because I can take my medicine and work from home.” Although she suffers from some kind of chronic pain every day, she relies in her strong faith in Jesus for healing.

Her Writing Career

Currently, Sicily is working on a young adult series, entitled COWGIRLS FOR JESUS. Her son competes on the rodeo circuit, so she was inspired to create the series. She has over sixty books in print, including her popular short-story serial volumes.

Thank you, Sicily, for sharing some of your life’s adventures with us today!
